Media Manager required for international news company based in West London.

Our client requires a Media Manager to have a full overview of all incoming & outgoing media, identifying problems and issues and escalating them if necessary. They are required to work on the Media Management desk where they will manage the server - this includes the restoration of archived clips, the pushing and pulling of content between broadcast centres, and using the deletion policy to maintain a healthy percentage of server space.
They will be part of the Broadcast Operations team that exists to support the editorial vision of the European hub of the company. Encompassing a number of roles across studio and post-production the goal of the department is to provide first class service and support in fulfilling the editorial remit of the network.
The role :
- Download and ingest video and audio material from a variety of sources to the server as requested.
- Ingest packages and footage from outside correspondents
- Work with Video Editors and editorial staff in the newsroom to coordinate the flow of video and production of news packages for daily broadcast.
- Set up daily feeds.
- Download shared video material from other production centres in the corporate Network.
- Archive locally generated material, programs and news packages.
- Assist outside correspondents with footage requests.
- Be prepared to work varied shift hours including evenings, weekends and holidays.
- Excel at work within a culturally and ethnically diverse staff.
Person specification:
In order to be successful in this role you must be fluent in English - written and oral. You will have extensive experience as a Media Manager and be used to the pressure of working in a news environment. You will be a team player, understanding the company vision and strategic goals and how media operations can contribute to making these happen.
Essential:
- Experience in news media management role or similar
- Must be acquainted with current methods of video delivery including FTP, inter-site transfer methods and direct delivery by satellite/fibre.
- Must be familiar with naming conventions as well as the various standards of video format, i.e. HD/SD NTSC/PAL 1080i and so on.
- Possess a clear understanding of TV news production including editorial, logistical and operational techniques.
- Knowledge of and experience with IT tools to perform these tasks is desirable.
- Maintain a keen focus on and awareness of global news events and personalities.
Desirable:
- Fluency in a second language.
